For those of us who travel to Ukraine frequently , it had become very noticeable during the most recent, much needed delivery of Humanitarian Aid to Kyiv, Odesa and beyond, that the atmosphere in Ukraine had changed.
I’ve spoken often about my admiration of the courage and fortitude of the people of Ukraine; this is still the same. What was noticeable to me, having spoken to many old friends and some new acquaintances; was the concern that we in the West were tiring in our resolve to continue to support them. This is their grave concern.
In the first few months of the renewed Russian invasion in 2022 and particularly after the routing of the enemy during that late summer, words of everlasting support from leaders in the West seemed genuine!
During my recent visit, the media headlines were of a more political nature. US Congress had not yet agreed to authorise further military and other aid! How many others would feel empowered to renege!
At Operation SafeDrop, we will continue to support the good people of Ukraine “for as long as it takes”.
Everyone to whom I speak throughout Ukraine is incredibly grateful for our/your amazing support. They thank you.
A special mention to James (Jimbo) Knight who spent 10 days with Op SafeDrop in the summer to see how his incredibly generous donations were being used.
As we wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year please take a moment to think of those in the trenches on the bitterly cold front line. Without them our future is less secure and our way of life far less certain.
We stand with them and reaffirm our determination to do more for victory.
From us all at Op SafeDrop, we wish you a peaceful Christmas.
